HEA commissions UAL staff to create equality and diversity guides

UAL staff Terry Finnigan (Head of Widening Participation at London College of Fashion, UAL) and Aisha Richards (MA Associate Lecturer at CSM and Director of Shades of Noir) have been commissioned by the Higher Education Academy Scotland to produce art and design discipline specific practitioner guides for the Embedding Equality and Diversity in the Curriculum project.

The guides aim to support academics in creating learning and teaching experiences and environments that enable all students to reach their potential, to feel included in their learning journeys and to become diversity competent.

They are aimed at higher education learning and teaching practitioners, from graduate teaching assistants, to lecturers, to programme leaders, heads of schools and deans of learning and teaching. Visit the HEA website to read the art and design practitioners guide. The other discipline guides can be found on the HEA website.

Terry, Aisha and Siobhan Clay lead on an ‘Inclusive Teaching and Learning in HE’ unit as part of the Teaching and Learning Exchange’s MA Academic practice programme. Find out more on the Teaching and Learning Exchange website, or download the full unit descriptor. The application deadline for 2015/16 is 30 June 2015.
