New Pedagogy Reading Group
CLTAD warmly invites UAL staff to our first Pedagogy Reading Group on Tuesday 25th November 17:30 – 19:00 at High Holborn, room HH705.
The idea is for participants to identify and discuss texts they feel could inform pedagogy at UAL and also their own practice and research.
At this first meeting, led by Nicholas Addison, we will discuss ‘Include Me Out: Helping Artists to Undo the Art World’, in Art School: Propositions for the 21st Century. In this text, Charles Esche makes claims about the purpose of the Art (not Design) College for the 21st century, rooted in radical and Left(ish) principles and practices. At their most extreme they undo the art academy as it is currently conceived. Do his claims ring true for you?
After the first session, participants will be invited to suggest other texts for discussion. The person or people selecting a text would open the discussion for each session, presenting the reasons for their choice and possibly structuring the discussion thematically.
Please RSVP to n.addison@arts.ac.uk – places are limited!
